Our team of skilled storytellers brings years of experience in drawing out and crafting compelling backstories
Eileen Dougherty
Journalist, Filmmaker, and Family Historian
Eileen Dougherty has spent over 30 years in journalism and media production. Her career includes roles as a Washington, DC bureau chief and co-founder of an Emmy-winning production company. Now, she's focused on her latest venture: Backstory Media.
Eileen's career has placed her at the intersection of personal narratives and world-changing events. From witnessing the fall of the Berlin Wall to documenting emotional reunions of WWII veterans on the beaches of Normandy, she's seen firsthand how individual stories weave into the fabric of history.
This realization forms the cornerstone of Backstory Media: every person, regardless of fame or status, has a story worth telling. Eileen firmly believes that we can only preserve our collective legacy and forge meaningful connections across generations by sharing these stories.
Today, Eileen crafts compelling family films and brand narratives alongside her husband and longtime Director of Photography. Together, they call Capitol Hill home, staying close to the political pulse that has long inspired their work.
Eileen's mission is clear: to uncover, preserve, and share the extraordinary stories hidden within our everyday lives. Because, in her experience, it's often the unsung heroes who genuinely shape our world.
